We run both sparc (12) and alpha (3) file servers (total ~500Gig of
disk, ~8k users). We intend on keeping at least two different server
platforms as a hedge against potential bugs. Whether our non-sparc
platform will continue to be alpha or not is uncertain after another
year or so.

There was a sparc corruption bug, even on single processor machines,
but it rarely showed itself. It was fixed by Transarc over a year
ago.
