On May 26, 1998,  IBM announced the general availability of its
solution offering for Internet Infrastructure -  IBM WebSphere Performance
Pack.  This product brings together the most flexible and scalable content
delivery infrastructure offering in the industry today, with proven
technologies such as Web Traffic Express (WTE), AFS (Client and Server), 
and eND (eNetwork Dispatcher).

The WebSphere Performance Pack is targeted at Internet Service Providers and
Corporate IT accounts.  IBM WebSphere Performance Pack combines the most
valuable infrastructure functions sought by these target market segments:

* Significant bandwidth savings and web site performance through the
  effective caching capabilities of Web Traffic Express (WTE) and AFS 
  (from IBM's Transarc).
* Scalable and cost effective file administration and content backup /
  replication through proven AFS functions.
* High availability, scalability, and performance through the dynamic and
  generic traffic load balancing  capabilities of eNetwork Dispatcher for
  local and remote TCP/IP applications and content.

IBM WebSphere Performance Pack will be sold and marketed by IBM's Web
Application Server sales team, the IBM Telecommunications and Media ISU, the
Small and Medium (SMB) sales force, and the certified BesTeam Business
Partners, the Transarc File Systems sales team, and the IBM Transaction
Systems Pillar sales team.  The suggested retail price is $7,499
for each AIX, Solaris, NT machine or SP node one or all of the component
Performance Pack products are installed on.
