3 DCE/DFS/cells (2 production and 1 test).

Cell 1: ~100
Cell 2: ~50K (soon to be 56K to 62K users)
Cell 3: < 5 (test cell).

Not including the servers, which are also configured as clients:
Cell 1: 1
Cell 2: 6 now, 8 in about two weeks, and between 10-20 over the next
few months. All DCE/DFS client machines are in house.
Cell 3: 1 (test cell).

For now, 100% are DCE/DFS clients. We are thinking about using some
sort of PC DCE/DFS client for the future.
> 5. How many file servers do you have in each cell?
Every user gets their own DFS fileset, so we are supporting about 50K
user filesets (the bulk of which is in our Cell 2), plus addition
system filesets (in many cases replicated filesets) for add-on system
software. We are adding another 6K to 12k users to our Cell 2 over the
next few weeks, which is why we are thinking about getting a 5th DFS
server for Cell 2. We would like to keep the number of filesets per
file server at around 10K to 15K, but the lag time between when we
would like a new DFS server, and the time it takes to put it into
production can take a significant amount of time, so we normally are
running with more filesets per file server then we would like.
Cell 1: 1
Cell 2: 4 (maybe 5 soon).
Cell 3: 1 (test cell).
> 6. How much total disk space do you have on-line in each cell?
I assume you mean DFS space, and not Unix file space.
Cell 1: ~30GB
Cell 2: ~145GB
Cell 3: Under 2GB (test cell).
> 7. How many administrators do you need to run each cell?
So far, all of our machines (DCE/DFS clients and servers) are in
house. We have 3 admins that manage all Unix and DCE/DFS
administration.
