I submitted a small patch to Samba for using local srvtabs in order to
obtain AFS tickets for Samba using encrypted passwords. This is not as
secure as schemes suggested by among others Allan Bjorklund on the
samba-ntdom mailing list, but it works without having to modify the
clients. It's sufficient for us with mainly Solaris workstations and a few
NT clients. The patch requires Kerberos 4. Does this make sense to you.
(This I should probably have asked before submitting the patch.)
