Were are looking at various options to provide file space to a
thousand or more Win 95/98 clients across our campus environment.

I am looking for anyone willing to share their experience with
using Samba as a gateway to AFS file space.

Looking for some cache configuration information, the type of platform
your running samba on. The number of concurrent clients your samba
server is providing file services for.

I remember a discussion several years ago about various issues with
cache performance, its a black art. Does anyone know if Transarc has
taken the input from Decorum 99 and improved the performance of the
cache manager in 3.5 as compared with in AFS 3.4a. Looking for any
information about cache configuration for system with large caches
with many users.

We are using Samba 2.0.5 (on Solaris 2.6) and have a small hack to
use PAM. This enables us to compile samba without having to link in
any of the AFS libraries.
