DCE Programming I [Hands-On]
Course No. HP301
04/08/96 3 days $1,200/seat
This class teaches the concepts behind each of the components of DCE
so students gain experience coding applications that use these
components. Significant class time is devoted to hands-on activities
to reinforce the concepts taught during the lecture.

DCE Programming II[Hands-On]
Course No. HP302
04/11/96 2 days $800/seat
This course is an extension of DCE Programming I and will revisit each
of the major topics in additional detail. It is intended for
programmers who are developing full DCE client/server Secure Core
applications or Encina Toolkit applications.

Programming with Encina Monitor[Hands-On]
Course No. HP501
04/15/96 2.5 days $1,250/seat
Students learn how to write Monitor-based client and server
applications. The class introduces transactions, the notion of
recoverable servers and discusses how to use XA-compliant databases in
applications. This course covers the writing of a complete Monitor
application with several variations. Both the Tran-C and TX interfaces
are covered for managing transactions. Labs provide students with an
opportunity to actively reinforce these concepts.

Programming with Encina RQS [Hands-On]
Course No. HP502
04/17/96 1.5 days $750
Students learn how to extend the applications written in Programming
with Encina Monitor to include use of the Recoverable Queuing
Service. The course introduces the data structures supported by
RQS element types, queues, queue sets. The course also illustrates
how applications can manipulate RQS data placing data in queues,
moving it between queues, and removing data from RQS entirely. It
introduces RQS functions for searching queues, and the related Queued
Request Facility (QRF) daemon.

Programming with Encina PPC Services [Lecture]
Course No. LP504
04/19/96 1 day $500/seat
The class addresses the writing of Encina peer applications that
interact with SNA-based LU6.2 applications (usually running on
mainframes) using the peer-to-peer communication paradigm. This class
discusses the differences between peer-to-peer and client/server
communications, illustrates how to write transactional Encina peers,
and shows how to combine the peer-to-peer with client/server
systems. It presents a complete PPC application, based on the
application written in Programming with Encina Monitor.

DCE Secure Core System Administration [Lecture]
Course No. LA30
04/23/96 4 days $1,600/seat
Learn the functionality of each DCE Secure Code component and the
interaction among these components. This class also addresses
administrative tasks such as backup and restore, cell configuration,
and security and introduces many of the new DCE 1.1 features.

AFS System Administration[Lecture]
Course No. LA20
04/23/96 3 days $1,600/seat
This course prepares students to plan, install, manage and recover the
distributed file system, AFS. This class covers terms and concepts for
effective AFS administration including planning for growth and end
user training needs, and troubleshooting. System administration tasks
taught include managing client machines and volumes, account creation
and the AFS backup system.

DFS System Administration [Lecture]
Course No. LA40
04/29/96 2 days $1,000/seat
This class teaches the functionality of DFS and the different
components that comprise the distributed file system. This class
focuses on tasks a system administrator will need to perform,
including the administration of filesets, client and server machines,
backup and restore, and DFS account administration.

Encina Monitor System Administration [Lecture]
Course No. LA50
04/29/96 2 days $1,000/seat
Through the use of a basic Monitor application, students gain an
understanding of the Encina Monitor environment as a whole, and how
each DCE and Encina component is used. Students will also acquire an
understanding of essential configuration and management tasks
associated with the Encina Monitor and the Recoverable Queuing
Services.
