You should consider reporting the SGI "df" problem to the people at
your site who take care of AFS.  These "site contacts" have procedures
for informing Transarc of the situation.

I started to track down this very same problem with another customer.
Once a work-around was achieved, though, the matter became low
priority for them.  I'd be happy to take another look at it if any of
your site contacts are interested in reporting it to Transarc.
