Besides a response by Robert G Moskow pointing to Network Computing
there has been a complete silence as far as I can see. Therefore
the CLASSIC paper on the issue has not been indicated. It is
"Scale and Performance in a Distributed File System" by John
Howard et al in ACM Transaction on Compter Systems, vol 6 no 1
pages 51-81. It was published more than four years ago (Feb 1988)
but is still a very valid in its discussion on the issue.
