Hallo AFS-admin's
we are discussing on our site the following:
On our campus we have a lot of UNIX-systems with a lot of users.
In our centre we supply them with addtional computing power and disk space
We want to use AFS on our central machines.
Is there any idea to easily explain to the users the difference between AFS and
unix? Our idea is that they always find the same environment, no matter which
system they log in. For most of our users are not experts in unix, we want that
unix on every machine should have the same behavior in basic elements (which
includes ls).
Usally the users do not known, in with filesystem the are. Is there an easy way
(for example an alias, etc) to determine if it is the /AFS tree.
Is there something like an afsls which shows the real access rights of the file.
Is there something like an afschmod?
Every suggestion or idea will be welcomed.
