Dear AFS-users,
I would like to know something more about performance of AFS.
At our site we have only a test- situation with only one server-
machine and a few clients of different hardware types.
We are thinking of using AFS for the whole university (300
workstations).
Furthermore I'm preparing a talk about AFS in wich I would like to
tell something about your experiences.
We have installed AFS 3.1 and 3.2 on some clients and its working
fine after some minor problems.
I did some performance tests but I think they are not representative
for a situation where many clients and more than one server are being
used.
So what I'm asking:
0. Can you tell me (in short) what your configuration is?
1. Can you tell me something about your AFS performance?
2. Can you tell the difference in performance between FTP, AFS,
NFS or local file-transport?
3. Can you tell how AFS 'feels' in a AFS environment?
4. Are you satisfied or hoping for great improvement?
5. Is there much time involved for syst. man. (incl. accounting)?
Many thanks in advance,
Harry Meijer
