I have an HP 9000/730 with the CRX 24Z graphics option. On this display, cache manager messages scrawl across the entire screen, regardless of whether a console window is open or not. If a console window is running, the messages appear in the window, but they still scrawl across the screen, messing up the entire display. Other output directed to /dev/console appears only in the console window; it seems to be only the cache manager (and possibly other messages generated directly from the kernel) that appear on the screen. On another 730, identical to the first except for an 8-bit CRX display instead of the CRX 24Z, console messages, including those from AFS, never appear when the X server is running, regardless of whether a console window is present. If you kill the X server, you can see where these messages have accumulated on the console, and if you run a console window, the messages accumulate there as they should. Has anyone seen and possible solved this problem for the CRX 24Z display?
