I reported this to Transarc a couple of weeks ago. It appears that you
need read access to get to the file even if all you are doing is an
execute. AFS has a number of problems in mapping Unix only items such
as the notion of execute privilege into AFS access. Another such mapping
problem is the AIX mv command trying to do a chgrp() - AFS fumbles on the
notion of group resulting in the mv returning an error (although it does the
move).
