Hi!,

I am a novice at AFS, and at our site; the regular AFS guru is not in
today and is unreachable.

I came across this situation today.
One of the AFS file servers is not responding to file access requests.
ie. File access requests give a "connection timed out message".

>From the database server machine, when I tried to have a look at the
FileLog for the server concerned using the following command:

 bos getlog afs5 FileLog
I get a message saying:

Fetching log file 'FileLog'...
bos: server or network not responding (while reading log)

I tried looking for one of the volumes on the files server using:

vos exa user.operations

and I got a response:

Could not fetch the information about volume 536872105 from the server
Possible communication failure
Error in vos examine command

Dump only information from VLDB
user.operations
    RWrite: 536871533 Backup: 536871535
    number of sites -> 1
server afs5.ciesin.org partition /vicepc RW Site

Is there a seuqence of steps that I can go though to identify the problem?
