VLDB syncing

Does anyone out there have any opinions as to how robust the VLDB is? It
seems that here at NIH we are always having the VLDB and the servers
getting out of sync. It's usually just a couple entries or so but it can
be annoying. Does anyone do periodic syncvldb's and syncserv's, and if so,
how often?
