Greetings.

We are considering replacing our [slow-ish] NeXT AFS servers with DECstation
5000 model 200 (or possibly 240) machines. We can afford to do a 1-for-1
replacement of NeXTs with 5000/200s, and maybe a 2-for-1 replacement with the
/240s. We have ~250 NeXT machines as clients.

Does anyone out there have any performance numbers for these classes of
machines? For example, I suppose I would need # of RPC calls handled per
second for such things as stats, read/write locks, etc. Also, just raw AFS
I/O numbers.

Alternately (or in addition), any pointers to any software that would perform
this benchmarking? I will have a /240 to test for a week and a /200 to test
also for a week, so I'd like to be able to come up with some numbers in order
to justify this upgrade.

Thanks in advance for any help on this.
