I work for U of Penn and am supporting a number of researchers
who access large (several gigabyte) binary datasets. Currently,
the person in charge of the data must compile and test the data
for two different Unix byte orders (HP and DEC). This is a huge
job and we would like to be able to support one copy of the data.
My question is, if we put the binary data into an AFS file sytem
will AFS do the binary conversion for the different byte ordered
machines. I would think that it would, but I need to make sure.
Thanks for the help.
