We are using the AFS version of rcp. We have a third-party application
that is written to use rcp to do copying of files between clients and servers.

Whenever a file is copied using rcp, we get an error message as follows:

rcp: can't truncate ./p.prt.1:

The file actually gets copied, but the permissions on the part are left
at r--r--r-- (as on the original) rather than changing to rw-r--r-- (as it should).

If I manually change the permissions on the part in my directory, then
redo the rcp, it goes without any errors or warnings.

Any ideas about what I might do about this? Has anyone else run into this?

We are running AFS on RS/6000's primarily, but also HP 700's.

Thanks,
Hope Goering
