Hello everybody.
I recently had a problem with our Backup Database, that
somehow was corrupted.
I restored one Database, with backup restoredb, and now I'm
trying to put back all the things as they were before the crash. The
problem I'm having is that when I do a scantape in the tapes recorded
after the crash, all of them are giving the following error:
error 156566287 in skipping volume data.

As I understood by reading the manuals, this can happen if the
file marks delimiting each volume backed up, are not there. Looking at
the tape log file, I saw that all the volumes in those backup sets
were succesfully dumped.
The question is this: if the tape log didn't report any error,
how can scantape end with errors ? Could it be that the tapes are
demagnatized ? I don't think this is the problem, since if this was
the case, scantape would abort saying the tape was never labeled. How
could the file marks got lost ? Am I capable of restoring the Database
to the state it was before it became inconsistent ? As everyone faced
this problem yet ?
Any advice from you expert users would be much appreciated,
since I really don't know what to do, unless to restart from scratch.
        Thanks in advance.
