Hello,
I'd like to know if anyone has updated the perl-based shell script
called "stbutc" available in the grand.central.org cell in
/pub/afs-contrib/tools/auto-backup for use in AFS 3.2a or AFS 3.3? According
to the README file in this directory, all the scripts are written for use on
AFS 3.1b.
In case you aren't familiar with the "stbutc" script, it opens a
pipe to butc, and upon encountering a "press enter when done" message from
butc, runs a command to eject the current tape, pauses enough time for the
tape stacker picker to place a new tape, and and sends a return character to
butc, making it unnecessary for an individual to have to change tapes manually.
Once upon a time I attempted to get this script to work for
AFS 3.2 but never got it to work correctly - my available time was limited.
I'd appreciate knowing if anyone is successfully running a modified version of
this script with AFS 3.2a or AFS 3.3.
Incidently, before the "stbutc" script was made available, I believe
that there was an expect script used to accomplish the exact same thing. I'm
interesting in knowing about any working solutions to this problem!
Sincerely,
Steven McElwee
