I'm new to the AFS environment and am looking for information about
recommended architecture(s) and strategies for optimal AFS server performance.
I've been chartered to purchase additional disk drives which are required for
our expanding environment.

Can anyone point me towards information or shared experiences that would help
in this decision.

Some of the issues I'm pondering are:

    - Should we go with single large disk/partitions or multiple spindles?
    - what about ratio of disk controllers to disks (of SCSI type)?
    - what is the general guideline (or is there one) for the ratio of
      clients-to-servers?
    - what if any is the "real" gain (if any), of Fast SCSI-II .vs. Fast&Wide
      with AFS?
    - servers are running SunOS 4.1.3. Have others migrated to Solaris 2.x
and if so how was the migration. Any immediate benefits?
    - is there any documentation on performance monitoring/tuning that would
      be helpful?

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated...
