hello again.. earlier this week i had posted a question about slow klog authentication. we have a small two AFS server situation where one server is file, pts, db, and kas server and the other is simply file server. various folks on the list pointed out one major mistake i had made: i had defined the file server only machine in the CellServDB file. after cleaning up the client side (/usr/vice/etc/)CellServDB files and using "fs newcell" to fix the in-kernel copy of CellServDB, "fs listcells" gave me the correct output. klog sped up a good bit, but i still wasn't 100% happy... i then remembered the server side (/usr/afs/etc/)CellServDB files and using "bos listhosts" i saw the server running file, pts, db, and kas HAD the other file server only machine in it's CellServDB. the file server only machine was okay. using "bos removehost" i removed the file server only machine from the datebase server machine. klog sped up a bit more, but is still 5-7 seconds... two days later i still have the main machine (netman) trying to contact various server process on the file server only machine (apskid). i include some tcpdump output for clarity: netman.afs3-kaserver > apskid.afs3-kaserver: apskid > netman: icmp: apskid udp port afs3-kaserver unreachable netman.afs3-vlserver > apskid.afs3-vlserver: apskid > netman: icmp: apskid udp port afs3-vlserver unreachable netman.afs3-prserver > apskid.afs3-prserver: apskid > netman: icmp: apskid udp port afs3-prserver unreachable anybody got any ideas why this is happening ??? (or is this normal) thanx, tim ehrhart
