Hi tech,
Lamport was asked to provide a definition for a distributed system.
His answer was : "A distributed is one that stops from getting
any work done when a machine you've never even heard of crashes".
It seems afs examplifies this definition. In the middle of a session
my ghostview gets sick, and the error message displayed by afs,
repeatedely mind you, :
afs: Lost contact with volume location server 128.48.108.39 in cell ucop.edu
afs: Lost contact with volume location server 128.48.141.9 in cell ucop.edu
afs: Lost contact with volume location server 128.48.141.2 in cell ucop.edu
I am viewing a local document, why would my ghostview stop working?
