I'm trying to get AFS 3.3 working with HP-UX 9.01 and have run into a very perculiar problem. I have four HP 710's all running HP-UX 9.01. The problem is that AFS works on two of them and refuses to start on the other two. In all cases the kernel extensions load without error but when you execute the rc.afsd.small script, on two of the systems AFS starts just fine and on two it fails with the message "Bad system call - core dumped". For what it's worth, everything works on a 712/60 running 9.03. I'm not an HP maven so it's a little hard for me to tell what exactly is different about the systems. The only correllation I've found so far is that the two systems where AFS _fails_ have kernel support for "Diskless servers and clients". The 'kernel parameters' are identical on all four systems. Does this ring a bell with anyone? Can anyone suggest other things that might be different in the systems? The problem has been reported to Transarc. Thanks. R.
