The latter. /usr/sbin/fsck is a "wrapper" program which simply checks
the type of the file system in question and calls the propper fsck
program under the directory /usr/lib/fs/<filesystem>. (At least that is
what we have found out when we have installed AFS on Solaris 2.3 :-)
For your second question I can give no answer at all. We haven't checked
the fsck behavior in more detail ... sorry.
