Hi!
We are thinking of implementing disk mirroring in Boca AFS cell.
Please let us know if you have information on AIX disk mirroring in AFS.
A reply to our inquiry about disk mirroning from transarc is attached.
Thanks - Sesharao

Subject: TR-14554 (AIX disk mirroring and AFS)
Dear Sesharao:
Sorry it's taken a while to reply to your inquiry about whether AFS
supports AIX disk mirroring TR-14554). Our Product Engineer is still
quite busy working on the remaining AFS 3.4 beta ports, and didn't
respond to my inquiry right away.
As I understand it, official AFS "support" for AIX disk mirroring is
more a matter of certifying that it works than of altering AFS.
Apparently, all of the work involved is on the AIX side, and performed
by the administrator--altering the disk setup at a sufficiently low
level that both disks appear to AFS as one partition. To date,
Transarc has not performed this certification for AFS 3.4 or any
earlier version of AFS. One of our developers says that he believes
that disk mirroring should work, but as far as I know, no one at
Transarc has tried it here.
Our Product Engineer's AFS 3.5 "todo" list includes certification of
disk mirroring, but it is of course competing for attention with
numerous other possible features and fixes. To be honest, not many
other customers have requested that we certify this feature, so its
priority is not very high. If you are aware of other AFS customers
(IBM sites or otherwise) that would like us to certify AIX disk
mirroring, please have them contact Product Support.
I saw your post about this issue to info-afs, but have not seen any
responses. If anyone writes to you directly about their experiences,
or if you decide to experiment with disk mirroring yourself, I'd
certainly appreciate your sharing that information with me.
Sorry I can't be more helpful at this time.
