Hi,
I have sent a request a while back regarding using Sun's SPARC Storage
Array for AFS file server. Thanks to Werner Baur forwarding me the information
from Jay Wilson. It's all working now. We have running the new setup
for a while and reboot the machines with no problems. Since I got couple
of mails indicated the same problem. I am writing this mail in case someone
still need this.
We are running Solaris 2.3 with AFS 3.3a and SPARCstorage Volume Manager 2.0.
1. The first problem is AFS vfsck does not understand the default device
name, /dev/xv/dsk/rootdg/vol01, set up by Volume Manager. The first
attempt is to set a link like:
ln /dev/vx/dsk/rootdg/vol01 /dev/dsk/vol01
Now, vfsck is happy but not salvager. The common error is you might get
some "Cant attach volume" errors. The log file will also tell you the
salvager is not working.
2. To please salvager, the link should be in /dev level:
ln /dev/vx/dsk/rootdg/vol01 /dev/vicepa
Now both vfsck and salvager are happy. I think you can use /dev/vol01
instead of /dev/vicepa. But /dev/vicepa is what in Werner's mail and
what I have tried here.
