Ken,
We've been running Transarc's "WebSecure" AFS module and we really like it. It
can work with SSL to provide secure access to AFS directories over the web
using AFS authentication and PTS groups for access.
It has some drawbacks: It is only available for older versions of Apache
(1.3.6 is the most recent), or netscape 3.0 server, and it's only available for
slightly older OSen (ex. the latest version of Solaris it's available for is
5.6).
Right now we're only running it on a test bed box (an ancient Sparc5 running
5.6) but a spanking new UltraSparc10 is on it's way for us to run it in full
production. With the ability to use the WebSecure product instead of things
like (ugh) IP based ACLs we expect to have the new machine replace at least 3
current servers.
