Having seen the following blurb in this email list earlier this week, I
took the initiative to call Transarc to get their spin on it.
> > Since IBM bought Transarc, all development of AFS has been moved from

Here's my interpretation of the response I got from an AFS salesperson
at IBM Transarc:
Both AFS and DFS are considered by IBM to be "mature" products. That is,
they are considered to be complete as far as functionality is concerned.
So it is true that there will be no new enhancements.
There is a development team in India AND a development team in Pittsburgh.
The continuing development work is for producing ports of AFS to new
operating systems and new OS release levels. (I believe he said that DFS
would not be ported to any new operating systems.)
Both products are still fully supported and will continue to be supported
in the foreseeable future.
