A newer version of the Windows 9x client is now available through the
following two AFS contribution directories!

/afs/transarc.com/public/afs-contrib/bin/win9x.client
/afs/transarc.com/public/afs-contrib/bin.export/win9x.client

This is an improved version over the version we made available on
4/25/2000.
One major enhancement is the shell extension is now available for Windows
95.
With the feature, Windows Explorer users can view/update ACLs and check
mount
point info, etc, by clicking the right mouse button on AFS directories and
files
and select the AFS option. This feature was available with Win98 only
in the previous version. Now it's working on Win95 as well.

Some bug fixes are included that address some problems that were reported,
e.g.,
authentication expiration warnings coming up too early/often, having to
mount AFS
shares manually sometimes.

The current version has an open problem dealing with the "Suspend" of
Windows 95.
If a Windows 95 machine enters the "suspend" mode with the AFS client
running, the
AFS client would resume working until the system reboots and the client
gets restarted.
A work-around is to turn off the "Suspend" function if you are using
Windows 95. We
are currently working on a fix for this problem. This problem does not
appear to
exist with Windows 98.

More details are available in the Readme.doc file that's also available
in the contribution directories.
