Hi,
In our environment we have number of Tru64 machines and Iam using NIS
and Automount to administrate the
systems and SW installation. At present the user home directories are
on one of these machines(all are NIS slaves)
when user logins the HOME directory is mounted on that system if it is
not there. We are planning to move all
the HOME directories to an AFS server. Since I donot have much
experience with AFS I would like to know
the following:
1. What is the easiest way of migrating from present environment to AFS
? The passwd file is on the AFS
server afterwards. The user uses the same passwd file to login to
Tru64 and AFS. At present the passwd file is on
a machine in the NIS environment.I can copy passwd file from AFS
server to the passwd file on NIS server if
necessary.
2. How I have to configure the user account so that the user has got
access to all the SW on the present
server(NOT AFS configured) but his home directory is on the AFS
server.
I am very thankful if you can help in this matter. If you have any
scripts or programs in this respect and
if you can provide that , I will be very thankful. I would like to
have the same facility that the user can login to any
one of the machine in NIS environment even after moving the HOME
directory to an AFS server.
To shorten the question:
