Let me explain a bit further before I get more email about this :-)

I wrote this originally to handle MR-AFS dumps, because when dealing
with MR-AFS, you sometimes need to get the residency filename of a
particular file (don't ask, you _really_ don't want to know).

Hartmut is correct in that my program also works fine on regular AFS
dumps; the tricky part is that without MR-AFS, you can't actually
COMPILE the dang thing, because you need some of the MR-AFS magic
to make it compile. You could certainly make this program compile
without MR-AFS; I just haven't done so. If someone wants to take
a stab at it, I'd be glad to send it to them, _with_ the understanding
that I'd want their changes back so I could finally distribute the
thing for real (it's also got some minor to medium user interface
issues that need ironed out, but I view those as less critical).
