So should I file a change request for the AFS FAQ wrt this section, since
the last sentence appears to be incorrect:
whole file locking: [ Programmer ]
AFS does support advisory locking an entire file with flock().
Processes on the same client workstation that attempt to lock
a file obey the proper locking semantics.
Processes on different AFS clients requesting a lock on the same
file would get EWOULDBLOCK returned.
saying that AFS does support advisory whole file locking with flock, and
that processes attempting to lock the same file from both the same AND
different workstations obey the proper locking semantics? Pardon me for
being overly cautious, but it goes with the territory.
According to the version at
http://www.angelfire.com/hi/plutonic/afs-faq.html, it was last updated in
1998. I hear that the AFS manual says the same thing but I have not found
where.
