cvsignore

Hi,
im trying to use the $CVSROOT/CVSROOT/cvsignore file to make the cvs
update command to ignore some files . (*.class) . unfortunatly it doesnt
work, and the cvs update
still writes information about all my *.class files.
any idea why is that ?
