I still don't see why your shop doesn't adopt the "cvs edit -c" patch (and
communicate via automated notification and other means).

Practically, ignoring the fact that the current locks are in CVS and they
are not working good (and are out of control) is hurting the CVS and
concurency right now. My shop is using CVS with locking, and I see them to
keep like that forever. If the locking is done the right way before CVS 1.11
will come out, then perhaps at least in my next job I will not have to do
the stupid locking over the 'C' files...
