Thanks, You were absolute right.
I have updated my clients, but forgot to also update the server (which run
1.10.7).
Now it works fine:
/etc $ cvs st
cvs status: in directory .:
cvs [status aborted]: there is no version here; run 'cvs checkout' first
/etc $
