Which part of "it would be helpful" don't you understand? Are you running
CVS as root or as some other user?

If you're running CVS as a user other than root, then "sysuser" must be
the user you're running CVS as.

There aren't any. You might want to try running with -t to see if that
sheds any light. I don't know of any case where CVS doesn't issue a
descriptive message in addition to the translation of errno (which is
what "Permission denied" is), so I'm inclined to think that the message
you're seeing is coming from somewhere other than CVS itself.
