cvs co -d <directory to put stuff> <things to check out>
For instance:
cvs co -d /foo/bar /moduleX/dir1/dir2/dir3/dir4/dir5/dir6/dir7/dir8/dir9
inside of /foo/bar will be the contents of the dir9 directory.
