I'm new to this list so please pardon my question if it has been seen before... I've been using cvs on unix platforms for many years, but have just begun using WinCvs on a Win98 machine. Under preferences, I've set up the CVSROOT as such: "\\unixMachine\pathToCvsroot" And Authentication to: "Local mounted directory" I know \\unixMachine is available via the network through the Solstice NFS client installed. I can easily browse the directory \\unixMachine\pathToCvsroot, add/edit files & directories without any problems. Anytime I (and several others) try to check out a module I get: NEW CVSROOT: \\unixMachine\pathToCvsroot (local mounted directory) cvs checkout moduleName (in directory c:\MFC\SRC\LIBS) cvs checkout: Updating moduleName cvs checkout: cannot create read lock in repository `\\unixMachine\pathToCvsroot/libs/moduleName': Invalid argument cvs [checkout aborted]: read lock failed - giving up What am I doing wrong? On another colleague's machine, configured exactly* the same as mine (same CVSROOT and Authentication), he can checkout, edit commit, etc. without any errors. * Same OS, same version of WinCvs, same version of the Solstice NFS client, etc.
