Hello CVS gurus,
I am trying to manage the software configuration for a large team of
Software Engineers (60+) using CVS on Windows NT. We are attempting to use
the "Flying fish approach" in the Open Source Development with CVS. This is
essentially using personal branches to support parallel development.
We are having *severe* problems when multiple people try to tag the
repository simultaineously. The repository is ~4GB and the cvs tag
operation takes about 15 minutes. The problem is that Windows NT file
sharing mechanism interferes with CVS normal operation. When one person is
tagging the repository, everyone else who tries to tag files gets file
sharing violations.
Has anyone out there seen this behavior? Do you have a solution?
Thanks,
Matt
