Hello, Webmaster!
The new CVS homepage at http://www.cvshome.org/ is quite
disappointing. Here are some of my notes.
There is no webmaster address. I have to guess it. A copy goes to
[EMAIL PROTECTED] in the case I'm mistaken.
Headlines under "CVS News" are written in black on dark-blue background
(Netscape 4.73, Win32). The same applies to "Key Links" on the left side
of the page.
The first item of the news says "07/17/00 Search the CVS soure code".
Please replace "soure" with "source"
http://www.cvshome.org/ redirects to http://www.cvshome.org/CVS/index_html
This is arguably not the best use of redirects. I want to see whether I'm
on the main page or not. If I want to bookmark the main homepage, I don't
want to put "/CVS/index_html" to the bookmarks file - it can change some
day.
http://www.cvshome.org/CVS/oa/communication.htm has a lame extention. It's
a minor annoyance, but anyway.
http://www.cvshome.org/CVS/oa/communication.htm says: "CVShome.org Site
Feedback - If you have questions or comments about this site, or
suggestions on how we could improve it, please post 'em here!" However,
the link directs me to a forum about the CVS program, not about the CVS
site. The forum CVShome.org is moderated by jwilliams, who probably needs
to be informed on what that forum is about and what is offtopic.
"CVShome.org Site Feedback" is not very friendly for lynx - at least
"postnewtopic.gif" should have an ALT description, e.g. "Post New Topic"
It is a good idea to provide ALT for all pictures that have any text on
them.
It appears that when I want to report a simple typo on the homepage I have
to register on the site and post my notes publicly! I believe that most
people who wanted to inform you about minor issues with the site hape
given up.
Regards,
Pavel Roskin
