I don't know the exact protocol, but if you can run a standard CVS distribution
for testing, set CVS_CLIENT_LOG in your environment, export it, and begin
running cvs client commands which you are intersted in tracing. Two files will
be created, $CVS_CLIENT_LOG.in & $CVS_CLIENT_LOG.out with all the client-server
communication logged in them. I believe the extensions are server relative, so
*.in is the client's output stream, and *.out is the server's output stream.
