thanks for the info - it worked at treat

one small point, I originally added it to the module file like this

app1project app1& dll1& dll2&

this appeared to do everything on a checkout but it also generated a 
malformed & option error.
changing the module file to

app1project &app1 &dll1 &dll2

cured it (and I think it's how the docs describe the option also i.e. 
stick the & before the name)
