Recently I tried to commit a 1.7Mb file to our CVS repository and got an out of memory error from CVS. As it turns out, the machine had a default ulimit of 33Mb of swap for users. Raising this limit seemed to make the problem go away. Why in the world does CVS need over 33 Megs of memory to check in a 1.7 Meg binary file? That seems a little outrageous!
