cvs as a web site repository

hello.    I'm studing the instalation of a cvs server for use in the develop of web sites, I see there is a difference between the binary and the text files and for me is very important the correct versioning of binary files , especially .gif and .jpg the questions are:  - is there anobody using it in a enviroment of web development?  - Does it do versioning of binary files as it does with plain text files?   Thnx
