Saima!

Tried to reply direct but don't think it went through...
I've done alot of straight edits (mv's and rm's) on our cvs repository and
haven't had any problems - but this is what I know will happen.

1) Don't do it if you have tags!! (you'll loose the ability to replicate old
builds)

2) Developer's will get errors or warnings if they do updates and
directories are gone from the repository etc. - so they may need to do clean
co's
or make sure to do 'update -P -d' etc...

The 'Cederqvist' does discuss this alittle, some else just emailed the url:
www.cvshome.org/docs/manual/index.html

Cheers,
Teala

Subject: Moving, removing, and renaming files in CVS

Hi,
I wanted to know what repercussions there are to executing a unix
"mv"
on a directory in a repository. I just did a unix "rm" on a directory in a
repository, not in a work space, because the directory name was conflicting
with
another one. Is there a reason why the CVS manuals don't mention this as an
option?

Thanks,
Saima
