Hi Alex,
have a look at the section concerning the revision numbers in any
tutorial. The revision numbers are cvs-internals, you shouldn't think
about them. If you want to have number for your own purposes, you have
the possiblity to set tags or even branches.
When you use WinCVS you should have a look at the option "show graph" to
get yourself an overview for the history of a certain file.
