Oh, come on. Normally I'm all for succinctness, but this is downright
silly as an answer to the original question. If your objection is the
length of the message, how about:
-d Include empty directories in update.
...which is shorter than the original entry by two characters (and about
2000% more meaningful):
-d Build directories, like checkout does.
