Problem:
In a shared cvs environment over nfs, we cannot share projects without
allowing users to also modify projects. This is because when checking a
repository out, cvs needs to write some files in the directory, AND
setting group write permissions implies group repository write access. We
need to have the ability for our group to check out the project without
having write permissions.
I know that the *BSD folks have patched the code to be able to check out
read-only repositories.
Questions:
Is there some way to do this under the current "pure" cvs code?
Is there something pending to allow read-only checkouts?
If not, are there easy workarounds, or do I just need to go get the *BSD
patches?
Thanks,
