CVS will, apparently, want to log in as whoever is specified in the root
value (i.e., ":pserver:[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/home/ces/repository"). If this
is specified with the -d option, it will use that value. If not, it will
use CVS/Root if that exists, otherwise the CVSROOT environment variable.
Presumably you're in a directory checked out under username A, and you're
using username B, and so it looks at the CVS/Root file.
(We're having a somewhat similar issue. We often, in the course of reviews,
want to use "cvs diff" in people's code. This requires logging in again,
which is not a problem since everybody's got the same CVS password, for
simplicity.)
