creating a new module from existing checkout

hi!

i would like to create a new module in the repository from
an existing checkout because the changes are too big to
make a branch;

can i go to the checkout dir and say
cvs import bla ...

or do i have to delete all the CVS dirs in every dir of the checkout first?
